The Finger Lakes, named for their finger-like shape and their
north-south positioning, are a group of lakes in the western
central part of upstate New York. Eleven lakes make up the
Finger Lakes Region (Otisco, Skaneateles, Owasco, Cayuga,
Seneca, Keuka, Canandiagua, Honeoye, Canadice, Hemlock, and
Conesus).
The Finger Lakes are a popular tourist destination all year
round offering all of the wonderful activities, both on and off
the water, that you would expect from bird watching to
snowmobiling. In addition to tourism and agriculture, this
area is home to the second largest wine producing region in the
United States.
