Rochester was once referred to as the "Young Lion of the
West" and later in the 1830s as "Flour City" for being the
largest flour producing city. Another nickname that came later
is "The Flower City". Rochester is home of the annual Lilac
Festival which attracts visitors from all over the world. Susan
B. Anthony, a well-known women's rights advocate and suffragist,
called Rochester home in the 1800s until her death in 1906.
The modern nickname for Rochester is "The World's Image Center". In
keeping with that theme, the digital camera was invented in Rochester. In
addition to being the home of Eastman Kodak and many other fine companies,
Rochester is the home of many outstanding colleges and universities, some of
which boast state-of-art optical science programs.
This ornament is a wonderful keepsake to remember your visit
to Rochester, New York.
