The gates were officially opened August 11, 2001. Even with
ability to seat 64,450 fans the stadium provides an intimate
experience for the football fan with the field just 60 feet away
from the first set of sideline seats and just 25 feet from the
first set of end zone seats.
Heinz Field is a two-tiered stadium shaped like a horseshoe
which allows a beautiful view of Pittsburgh's skyline and the
fountain at Point State Park. It is hard to find a bad seat as
you watch the players on the 2.2 acres of natural bluegrass.
Even with the cold Pittsburgh weather during the playing season,
the players will always have a nice green 62 degree surface with
the automatic heating system just beneath the grass surface to
melt the snow and ice.
Steeler Fans will love this keepsake ornament of Heinz Field.
