During the 1828 presidential campaign some of Andrew
Jackson's opponents referred to him as a jackass. Jackson
immediately started to use sketches of this determined creature
on his campaign posters.
In 1870 Thomas Nast used a donkey in a political cartoon to
represent the Democratic Party. His famous political cartoon
appeared in Harper's Weekly. Democrats refer to the donkey as
both brave and smart.
Show your support for the Democratic party with this keepsake
gift. It's also and ideal thank you gift for campaign workers
and supporters.
