There have been over 88,000 Americans who have been declared
missing in action since the start of World War II as well as
many prisoners of war during the world's conflicts that the
United States has been involved in. Being declared MIA can mean
a lifetime of uncertainty for the families of the missing loved
one.
A U.S. military unit was created in 1973 known as the Joint
POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) who are responsible for
recovering and identifying those missing American Service Men
and Women. They travel the world over looking for MIAs by
searching deserts, snake-infested jungles or scaling remote
mountain ranges all in search of a MIA. The ultimate goal is to
leave no one behind or forgotten.
Honor a loved one with this POW-MIA Ornament.
