"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays
these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed
rounds."
This phrase is often associated with the U.S. Postal Service but
it really came from an ancient Greek work by Herodotus which
described the Persian system of postal carriers back in 500
B.C. It can be found inscribed on a General Post Office in New
York City. It does, however, describe the dedication of the
fine men and women of the U.S. Postal Service and their
diligence in getting the mail delivered.
