Located in North Wildwood, New Jersey, the Victorian-styled
Hereford Inlet Lighthouse was built in 1874. The lighthouse
still shines its beacon 14 nautical miles out to sea from its 49
1/2-foot tall tower. The Light withstood the punishment of the
Atlantic Ocean until 1913 when its foundation was damaged in a
rough storm and was moved in 1914 to the west 150 feet. This
lighthouse is a very comfortable and picturesque structure and
it was a nice home for the keeper and his family over the years.
An automated beacon was added in 1964 in a new iron light tower. Listed
on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, the original lighthouse
came back to life in April 1986 after a project was completed that improved
the lighthouse grounds.
The Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Ornament is an ideal gift for
any lighthouse collector. Tom Pollard Designs specializes in
designing the finest gold-plated brass light house ornaments.
