The IUP Seal represents many aspects of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The
founding date as well the complete university name frames a shield in the center
containing the bell tower of Sutton Hall, an oak tree and an open book.
The bell tower represents the university’s heritage and Sutton Hall, the first
university building. The oak tree represents the Oak Grove in the center of the
university grounds and the open book is a traditional symbol of higher
education. The IUP Seal was first used in the 1980s and was updated in 1999.
This IUP Seal Ornament is an ideal keepsake gift for students, graduates,
faculty, and alumni of Indiana University of PA.
