Dolphins are considered to be extremely intelligent, have
excellent eyesight, a very good sense of hearing and are closely
related to porpoises and whales varying in size from 4 feet to
30 feet. Eating mostly squid and fish, dolphins have a playful
attitude and a friendly appearance. They have small ear
openings on each side of their head and their teeth work as an
antenna to receive sounds which helps them find the specific
location of an object. When in groups they are called a pod or
a school and they communicate via clicking, whistling and other
methods using nasal air sacs located right underneath their
blowhole.
Some species of river dolphins are endangered such as the
Amazon, Ganges and Yangtze River dolphins. Humans are the
greatest threat to dolphins with fishing, collisions with boats
and contamination of their environment causing the most harm.
Buy this keepsake ornament for a unique gift for any dolphin
