The Duquesne Incline, which has been scaling the side of
Mount Washington since May 7, 1877, is a museum in motion. The
two cars that carry people up and down the side of Mount
Washington are the originals. Each incline car can carry up to
25 people at a time while moving about 320 feet per minute
making the 400 feet trip relatively short.
The cars carry people up to the top of Mount Washington with observation
decks that provide a beautiful view of the Pittsburgh Golden Triangle as
well as the surrounding area. The view has been highly ranked as one of the
most beautiful views in America. The inclines and the view from above are
one of the city's most popular tourist destinations.
Pittsburgher's will love this Duquesne Incline ornament.
